LAND AN DELIVER – EPISODE 013

AI is not the enemy. The challenge is making sure it does not become the decision-maker.

For anyone running a business, creating content, managing comms or advising clients, AI is already becoming part of everyday work. It can help you write proposals, shape emails, summarise meetings, analyse information, generate ideas and get through tasks that once took hours. Used well, it can be a brilliant support tool.

But useful does not mean perfect. AI can sound confident when it is wrong. It can invent facts, services, qualifications and context. It can pull information from the wrong source, the wrong country or the wrong moment in time. And if you are moving quickly, the temptation is to copy, paste and move on.

That is where the risk sits. Not in using AI, but in trusting it too easily. A draft might look polished. A response might feel convincing. A summary might sound right. But if nobody has checked it, challenged it or asked where the information came from, the human has quietly stepped out of the process.

This is where judgement matters. Check the settings before you upload sensitive data. Ask permission before using AI note takers. Be clear when AI has shaped something important. Review the output properly. Make sure it still sounds like you, reflects what you actually do and gives people accurate information.

Get that right, and AI becomes less about fear and more about confidence. It can help you work faster, think more clearly and make better use of your time, while still showing clients, customers and colleagues that a human is in control, accountable and paying attention.

Because in a world where AI can produce more content than ever, the human part is what makes the message land.

In this episode of Land and Deliver, Darren Wingham and Louise Chandler-Rutt explore how to use AI responsibly without losing trust, judgement or the human voice behind your work.

They look at the growing role AI is playing in everyday business life, from writing emails and proposals to summarising meetings, shaping ideas and making work faster. But the real focus is not whether AI is useful. It is whether we are using it carefully enough.

Darren and Louise unpack the anxiety many people feel around AI, especially when it comes to privacy, data security, fake information and whether a human is still checking the final result. They discuss why AI can feel impressive, but also why it needs to be treated as a support tool rather than a source of truth.

The episode explores one of the biggest risks with AI: it is a people pleaser. It wants to give you an answer. Sometimes that answer will be useful. Sometimes it will be confident, polished and completely wrong. Darren and Louise share real-world examples of AI inventing services, adding fictional qualifications, pulling in information from the wrong country and making assumptions that could easily slip into client work if nobody checks them.

They also look at the practical side of keeping AI use secure and ethical. That includes checking privacy settings, being careful with sensitive information, asking for consent before using AI note takers, pausing recordings when conversations become personal and being clear when AI has meaningfully shaped important work.

Drawing on examples from business proposals, client meetings, email writing, recruitment and creative work, Darren and Louise explain why speed should never replace judgement. AI can help you get off the blank page, but the final version still needs to be accurate, relevant and recognisably human.

If you are using AI in your business and wondering how to do it without creating unnecessary risk, this episode offers a calm, practical and human place to start. It is not about fearing AI or pretending it is perfect. It is about using it well, checking it properly and making sure the person in charge is still you.
